Since starting Rickshaw Hospital, we've brought free medical care directly to communities that are too often overlooked by the formal healthcare system.
Muskaan School
Around 100 patients came through, and a lot of medicine was needed. The main issues we saw were scabies, stomach worms, malnutrition, fever, common cold, and cough.
Ikra Model School
Around 50 patients were treated. Stomach worms were a big issue among the children here too, and high blood pressure and high blood glucose were common among the adults. We screened for both blood glucose and blood pressure alongside the general consultations.
A mother at one of our camps had a son who'd had stomach pain for months, but had never brought him in — a checkup meant choosing between the appointment and that week's groceries. When we finally examined him, we found stomach worms: simple and inexpensive to treat, but left untreated for months simply because a visit was out of reach.
